Legal
Privacy Policy.
What this website collects, how we use it and the choices you have. It is short, because the site itself collects very little.
Who we are
This website is operated by Bayt Al-Hikmah for Legal Services & Consultancy LLC (“BHC”, “we”, “us”), headquartered at the Royal Tulip Al-Rasheed Hotel, Baghdad, Iraq. For any question about this policy, write to info@bhc.iq.
Information you choose to send us
When you send our contact or appointment form, what you typed goes to our website, which emails it to info@bhc.iq so the right person can reply. The website doesn’t keep a copy of your message. To prevent abuse, it notes the IP address and time of each form sent, and deletes that note within a day.
Depending on the form, that message may include your name, email address, phone number, preferred date and time, subject and message. We also receive whatever you include when you email, call or message us on WhatsApp directly.
Please don’t send confidential or sensitive details about a matter until we have confirmed that we can act for you. Contacting us through this website does not by itself create a lawyer–client relationship.
Information collected automatically
This website does not use cookies, analytics, advertising trackers or social media pixels, and it does not store anything in your browser.
Like any website, the server that hosts it may keep standard technical logs, such as your IP address, browser type, the pages requested and the time of each request. These are used to deliver pages and to protect the site against abuse.
Fonts from Google
The site’s typefaces are served by Google Fonts. To display them, your browser connects to Google’s servers, which receive your IP address and browser details. Google describes how it handles that data in its privacy policy.
Videos from YouTube and Vimeo
Some news posts include videos hosted on YouTube or Vimeo. When you open such a post, your browser loads the video player from that service, which receives your IP address and browser details. We use YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode and Vimeo’s do-not-track setting, so neither sets tracking cookies just because the page was opened; if you play a video, the service’s own policy applies: YouTube (Google) and Vimeo.
How we use your information
We use the information you send us to:
- respond to your enquiry and arrange consultations;
- provide the legal, financial or technical services you engage us for;
- meet our legal, regulatory and professional obligations;
- keep this website secure and working.
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.
When we share it
We share personal information only where it is needed to serve you or required by law: with providers who host our website and email on our behalf, with professional advisers bound by confidentiality, or with courts, regulators and authorities when the law requires it.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiry correspondence only as long as we need it to respond, to deliver any services that follow and to meet our record-keeping obligations. Client information is kept in line with our professional duties.
Security
We take reasonable measures to protect the information you send us. Ordinary email is not fully secure, however, so please ask us about a more secure channel before sending sensitive documents.
Your choices
You can ask us at any time what personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete it, subject to any legal duty we have to keep it. Write to info@bhc.iq and we will respond within a reasonable time.
Links to other websites
This website links to other sites, including LinkedIn, WhatsApp, bar associations and news pages. We are not responsible for their content or privacy practices, so please review their policies when you visit them.
Children
This website is intended for businesses and adults. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows when it last changed. Your use of this website is also governed by our Terms & Conditions.
